Center Stage Effect

People tend to choose the middle option in a set of items

The Center-Stage Effect is the way in which, when faced with a range or products presented side by side, we tend to be drawn towards the one situated in the middle. This central positioning is a social signal that leads us to have a bias toward that particular product and therefore be more likely to choose it.

Classic Cases Of Center-Stage:

  • Items place on center shelves at stores

  • “Recommended” Plan in the middle of Pricing Tables

  • Fashion shows have main model in the middle of others

This shit is used in movies: The character in the center of the frame appear larger than the other characters. This effect is often used in movies and TV shows to make the main character appear more important than the others.
